What Is Terminus in Black Ops 6?
Terminus is a Zombies map in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (BO6). The map is set on a remote island complex located in the Philippine Sea. Terminus Island was originally a pre-WWII coal mining site, abandoned around 1932. The CIA later converted it into a top-secret detention facility. In 1986, Project Janus built a laboratory in the subterranean mining caves beneath the island.
The Terminus map features round-based Zombies gameplay. Players must power up the facility, unlock Pack-a-Punch, and complete a multi-step Easter Egg quest. The main quest ends with a boss fight against Patient 13, a monstrous failed experiment.
Terminus contains 1 main quest Easter Egg, 12 side quest Easter Eggs, 5 Artifacts, 10 Documents, and 16 Audio Logs.
What Is the Terminus Calculator?
The Terminus Calculator is a free online tool that instantly solves the Research Office math puzzle on the Terminus map. This puzzle is a required step in the Easter Egg quest to craft the DRI-11 Beamsmasher Wonder Weapon.
The calculator takes three symbol inputs (X, Y, and Z) and outputs a three-number code. This code unlocks the location of the final Beamsmasher component, saving players the 5,000 Essence bribe cost.
What Is the Terminus Math Puzzle?
The Terminus math puzzle is a three-equation algebra problem located in the Research Office on Terminus Island. The puzzle requires players to decode symbols from three laptops into numerical values, then solve three fixed equations to produce a code for the computer terminal.
The symbol assignments change every match, but the equations and the symbol-to-number grid remain the same across all games.
Where Are the Three Laptop Locations?
Each laptop corresponds to one variable. The locations are fixed across every match.
| Variable | Location | Nearby Landmark |
|---|---|---|
| X | Docks area | Under the Sea Tower, near Deadshot Daiquiri |
| Y | Storage Area | Near the Quick Revive perk machine |
| Z | Communications area | Outside the Control Center, near Stamin-Up |
Players must interact with each laptop to reveal its assigned symbol. The symbol displayed on each laptop changes every game.
How to Decode the Symbols
The Research Office contains two whiteboards in the back-left corner. The left whiteboard displays a grid of six symbols arranged in rows and columns. Each symbol maps to a two-digit number based on its position in the grid.
The row number (shown on the left side: 0, 1, or 2) provides the first digit. The column number (shown at the bottom: 0, 1, or 2) provides the second digit. Combining these two digits gives the numerical value.
| Symbol Position (Row, Column) | Value |
|---|---|
| Row 0, Column 0 | 0 |
| Row 1, Column 0 | 10 |
| Row 1, Column 1 | 11 |
| Row 2, Column 0 | 20 |
| Row 2, Column 1 | 21 |
| Row 2, Column 2 | 22 |
The six possible values are 0, 10, 11, 20, 21, and 22. These values and their corresponding symbols remain the same in every match.
What Are the Three Terminus Equations?
The right whiteboard in the Research Office displays three fixed equations. These equations never change between matches.
| Code Part | Equation | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Number | 2X + 11 | Multiply X by 2, then add 11 |
| 2nd Number | (2Z + Y) − 5 | Multiply Z by 2, add Y, then subtract 5 |
| 3rd Number | |Y + Z − X| | Add Y and Z, subtract X, take the absolute value |
The absolute value symbol (| |) in the third equation means: if the result is negative, convert it to a positive number.
Worked Example
Suppose your symbols decode to X = 20, Y = 11, and Z = 10.
| Equation | Substitution | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2X + 11 | 2(20) + 11 | 40 + 11 | 51 |
| (2Z + Y) − 5 | (2(10) + 11) − 5 | (20 + 11) − 5 | 26 |
| |Y + Z − X| | |11 + 10 − 20| | |1| | 01 |
The code for this example is 51, 26, 01. Enter this into the Research Office computer terminal.
All Possible Code Ranges
Each equation produces a specific range of outputs based on the six possible input values.
| Code Part | Minimum Value | Maximum Value |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Number (2X + 11) | 11 | 55 |
| 2nd Number (2Z + Y − 5) | −5 | 49 |
| 3rd Number (|Y + Z − X|) | 0 | 44 |
With 6 possible values for each of the 3 variables, there are 216 total combinations (6 × 6 × 6 = 216).
How to Use the Terminus Calculator
Using the calculator takes four steps.
- Find the three laptops around Terminus Island and note the symbol displayed on each one (X, Y, and Z).
- Go to the Research Office and check the left whiteboard to match each symbol to its numerical value (0, 10, 11, 20, 21, or 22).
- Select the matching value for X, Y, and Z in the calculator above.
- The three-number code appears instantly. Enter it into the Research Office computer terminal.
The calculator eliminates the need to solve the algebra manually and saves the 5,000 Essence you would otherwise pay to bribe Dr. Peck at the Guard Station.
What Is the DRI-11 Beamsmasher?
The DRI-11 Beamsmasher is the Wonder Weapon on the Terminus map. It fires a concentrated laser beam that deals massive damage to zombies. The Beamsmasher has both a primary fire (continuous beam) and an alternate fire (area-of-effect blast).
Players can obtain the Beamsmasher through two methods: randomly from the Mystery Box or by crafting it for free through the Easter Egg quest. The math puzzle is a required step in the free crafting path.
How to Get the Beamsmasher for Free?
The free Beamsmasher quest involves multiple steps before reaching the math puzzle.
- Activate all three AMP Generators to power up Terminus Island.
- Acquire the Dead Wire Ammo Mod from the Arsenal machine (costs 500 Salvage).
- Ride the Pack-a-Punch lift and shoot three electrical fuse boxes.
- Enter the Research Office and kill the trapped zombie to obtain the EMF Fob.
- Take the EMF Fob to the Sea Tower and interact with the briefcase near Elemental Pop to get the Multiphasic Resonator.
- Return to the Research Office and plug the Resonator into the computer terminal.
- Activate the three laptops around the map (X, Y, Z).
- Solve the math puzzle (or use this calculator) and enter the code.
- Wait until the next round for the coordinates to appear on the computer.
- Travel to the marked island by boat to collect the final component.
- Return to the Research Office workbench and craft the Beamsmasher.
Can You Skip the Math Puzzle?
Yes. Players can skip the math puzzle by bribing Dr. Peck at the Guard Station near the spawn location. The bribe costs 5,000 Essence and Peck will directly provide the code.
However, 5,000 Essence is a significant cost early in the game. Using this calculator allows players to solve the puzzle for free and save that Essence for perks, weapons, and Pack-a-Punch upgrades.
Tips for Solving the Puzzle Mid-Game
The math puzzle must be solved during an active Zombies match, which means zombies are constantly attacking. These tips help players solve the puzzle efficiently.
- Solo players can pause the game after viewing the symbols and whiteboards. Take a screenshot or use the calculator on your phone.
- Co-op players should have one teammate keep zombies occupied while another reads the symbols and enters the code.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do the Terminus equations change between matches?
No. The three equations (2X + 11, (2Z + Y) − 5, and |Y + Z − X|) are the same in every match. Only the symbol assignments for X, Y, and Z change.
What are the possible symbol values?
The six possible values are 0, 10, 11, 20, 21, and 22. Each symbol on the whiteboard grid corresponds to one of these values.
Does this calculator work for all platforms?
Yes. The Terminus math puzzle is identical on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The equations, symbols, and mechanics do not vary by platform.
Can I get the Beamsmasher from the Mystery Box instead?
Yes. The DRI-11 Beamsmasher can drop randomly from the Mystery Box. However, this method is unreliable and expensive. The crafting quest guarantees the weapon for free.
What happens after I enter the code?
The computer screen displays a map. After the next round begins, the Janus P.A. System announces “Multiphasic Resonator calibrated. Target located. Loading coordinates.” The computer then shows the island where the final Beamsmasher component is located.
What if my calculation gives a negative number?
The third equation uses absolute value. If the result of (Y + Z − X) is negative, drop the negative sign. For example, if the result is −9, the code entry is 09.
Is there a faster way to get the code without solving the puzzle?
You can pay Dr. Peck 5,000 Essence at the Guard Station near spawn. He will solve the puzzle and display the code on the computer automatically. This calculator provides the same result for free.
